Nepal Visa Overview

Most visitors to Nepal can obtain a Tourist Visa on Arrival for 15, 30, or 90 days. Indian citizens do not need a visa, but must carry valid ID when arriving by air. SAARC nationals (except Afghanistan) receive a free 30-day visa on their first visit in a visa year, while Chinese nationals also get a free tourist visa.

Procedure for Obtaining Visa on Arrival

Follow these steps when applying for a Tourist Visa on Arrival in Nepal:

  1. Complete the arrival card and online visa form (if available)
  2. Pay the visa fee at the bank counter
  3. Submit documents at the immigration desk
  4. Receive the visa sticker in your passport
  5. Proceed through customs

Visa Extension Information

The visa extension fee for 15 days or less is US$ 45. For more than 15 days, the cost is US$ 3 per day. Tourist visas can be extended for up to 150 days in a single visa year. A late fine of US$ 5 per day applies for overstays within the 150-day limit.
